Col P N Khera, VSM, an M.Sc. from Punjab University, Chandigarh and a Post Graduate in Mass Communications from Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, took voluntary retirement from Army after about 30 years of services in 1992. He was spokesperson of the Armed Forces as PRO Army and later as Joint Director, Public Relations for about 17 years. He later served as chief Executive, PTI-TV for more than four year till 1997, when he started his own production house and has since produced 3 serials namely, ‘Journey to Success’ (10 episodes),’Asia Defence’ (6 episodes) and ‘Tainaar’ (17 episodes) apart from a large number of single documentaries and News and Current Affairs programmes for Doordarshan. His documentaries include ‘Whose Army is it Anyway’, ‘Are Human Rights for terrorists only?’, ‘Kashmir Today’, ‘A New Dawn’, ‘The Indomitable’, ‘Pillars of peace’, ‘Veerta Ke Stambh’ to mention a few.

During his assignment with Directorate of Public Relations, Ministry of Defence he was responsible for the correct projection of the Armed Forces. He launched Multi-media campaigns to insulate our soldiers from the disinformation onslaught from across the borders. For his communication skills and positive Media management he was awarded Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India and a Commendation Card by the Chief of Army Staff. |

During his PTI assignment, Col Khera produced more than 400 corporate documentaries and programmes including Armed Forces, Rural and Urban Development, Indian Railways, Aviation, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), apart from day to day News capsules for Doordarshan. |

As PRO (Army) and joint DPR (Minister of Defence) Produced more than 120 Audio programmes which were broadcast in the weekly Armed Forces Programme by AIR during 1976-92. The programmes covered Operational Preparedness of Armed Forces, Life of Jawans in Border Areas, Hamare Paramveer, Braves of Brave, Our Unsung Heroes, Health and Hygiene, Family Welfare programme like, Childcare, Immunisation, Nutrition, Pre-natal and post natal care of Jawans families etc. |

He also produced a number of Audio/Video programmes for AIR and DAVP. |

Col Khera is the Editor of a multi-lingual news agency Asia Defence News International (ADNI) which is accredited by Press Information Bureau (PIB), Govt. of India. ADNI has got a countrywide network and provides News, Analysis and Comments in English, Hindi and Urdu to 66 newspapers. He is also he Managing Editor of Defence Digest. |

ADNI also publishes a monthly magazine on National and International Security, “Asia Defence News”. Col Khera is the Editor-in-Chief of this monthly. Asia Defence New has a wide redership not only in India but also in Americas and EU countries. |

His Latest documentary “Operation IMDAD” on Indian Humantarian aid to Pakistan after earthquake on 08 Oct. 2005 has been selected for International Screening. |
