1. Vice Admiral Jagjit Singh Bedi is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned in Jul 69. The Admiral is a specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare.
2. The Flag Officer has held a number of coveted appointments, both afloat and ashore and has the distinction of having commanded a ship at every rank. His sea commands include command of Seaward Defence Boat ‘Atul’, Ocean going minesweeper ‘Bedi’, Leander class frigate ‘Udaygiri’, Guided missile destroyer ‘Ranvir’ and the Aircraft Carrier ‘Viraat’. He has served as the Chief Instructor and Officer-in-Charge of the Signal School, Directing Staff at the College of Naval Warfare (CNW), Commanding Officer of the Naval Academy at Goa and Director of Naval Plans at Naval Headquarters. |

3. On promotion to Flag Rank, the Admiral was appointed as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy and Plans) at the Naval Headquarters. He has the distinction of being the Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command at Mumbai during Operation ‘Vijay’ and eventually spearheaded the operations of the Western Fleet, the premier sword arm of the Navy during Operation ‘Parakram’ as the Fleet Commander. On promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral, he held the appointment of Controller of Warship Production & Acquisition followed by Deputy Chief of Naval Staff at the Integrated Headquarters. Prior to taking over the reins of this premier operational command, the Admiral held the appointment of Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command based at Kochi.
4. The Admiral is an alumnus of the Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich (UK) and the Naval War College, Rhode Island (USA).
5. The Flag Officer is a recipient of the prestigious Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) for meritorious and distinguished service. He was appointed Honorary ADC to the President of India on 01 May 07.
6. Married to Mrs Kanwal Bedi, they have two daughters. |

1. Vice Admiral Raman Prem Suthan, AVSM, VSM took over as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command on 30 Apr 07.
2. A Graduate from National Defence Academy, Khadakvasala, Vice Admiral Raman Prem Suthan was commissioned into the Executive Branch of Indian Navy in Jul 70. After specialisation in Navigation and Direction, he has held various Staff, Instructional and Command appointments. |

3. During his long and illustrious career, Vice Admiral Raman P Suthan has commanded five ships of different size and capabilities and latest being INS Ganga in 1996-97. His other important assignments include Fleet Navigation Officer of Eastern Fleet, Defence Advisor at High Commission of India, Singapore from 1993-96 and Director of Personnel. He has been Assistant Chief of Personnel (HRD) at Integrated Headquarters, Chief of Staff of Southern Naval Command and Eastern Naval Command and Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet. |

4. On promotion to the present rank, Vice Admiral Raman P Suthan, took over as Controller Personnel Services. Before the present appointment, he was the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff. |

1. Vice Admiral Sunil K Damle, AVSM, NM, VSM took over as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Naval Command on 31 Jul 07.
2. The Flag officer was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 19 Dec 70. After initial training with the IAF, the officer joined the fighter stream in the Fleet Air Arm (Naval Aviation). He has flown various types of aircraft in the Navy and Air Force including carrier borne Sea Harrier aircraft. The officer is a qualified Flying Instructor (QFI). His aviation career includes Squadron Commander of front line carrier borne fighter squadron INAS 300 (White Tigers) and Commanding Officer, INS Hansa at Naval Air Station, Dabolim, Goa. |

3. During the span of his naval career, the officer has been the Executive Officer of missile frigate INS Talwar and the Commanding Officer of missile corvette INS Hosdurg, multi-purpose missile frigate INS Gomati and aircraft carrier INS Viraat.
4. As Flag Officer, he has been the Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area, Flag Officer Naval Aviation, Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Fleet and Assistance Chief of the Naval Staff (Air), Controller Personnel Services & Chief of Personnel at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Navy).
5. The flag officer is an alumnus of National Defence College, New Delhi.
6. He is married to Alka, who is an accomplished educationist. Their son Shishir & daughter Varsha are married and pursuing their respective careers. |
