On the recent case involving the alleged breach in the PM’s security when three youngsters reached beyond the first barrier, Ex-Soldiers voice their concerns to DefenceIndia.

Maj Gen. Ashok Krishna (Retd), says, ‘It’s a very serious matter & it should be resolved. This is the time when our forces have to be strict because it is the question of many lives. Its really a very bad thing. While the case when two girls and a boy tried to enter the house of PM, could be accidental,  or deliberate but our forces should be careful about the infiltration in armed forces.’

Vice Admiral R. B. Suri (Retd), says, ‘This is the time when there is a need of strictness within the armed forces about recruitment. Every person should be checked out. The Jawaans who are facing the problem of threat to their family indulge in some suspicious activity. This situation is very critical. On one hand the youngster prank should have been stopped by the security then and there. There is not much point in saying later, that those youngsters were going to harm national security.’

Maj. Gen. Ashok Mehta (Retd), says, ‘The Army has not taken the infiltration matter seriously enough. Especially when the soldiers are coming down from J&K, they are vulnerable. When the soldiers come from north-East like Nagaland, Mizoram  et al, we have to be very careful and monitor the people coming from those areas.’

Col. Dhani  Ram Shandil (Retd), says,’ There should be more security consciousness. Each and Every child must learn about national security. When I was in the 13th Lok Sabha, I raised a question that the security laws must be a part of syllabi of every student. NCC must be made compulsory as a curriculum. Today students are not enough aware of security. In my opinion each and every child has to be security conscious. Why the other countries are less prone to such activities is because students are much aware of importance of security systems. When everyone starts to understand the importance of security; we will be able to travel safely in buses and trains.’

Air Cmdr Uday Bhaskar (Retd), says, ‘The army infiltration needs to be examined carefully. Infiltration is not a new thing. Army and police should take appropriate action. There is no need of saying that this is an “Alarm” for India. Media always hypes such things. Media should not create a fear by defining it as a question of “National Security”.

Maj. Gen. B. C. Khanduri (Retd), says ‘It is the time to be more tough and strict about Laws related to security. We face all these things just because of lack of strictness. We should change the rule and regulations. This is very sad thing for us.’
