Lt Col VK Batra,SM, PRO, Indian Army, Srinagar voices the opinion on the recent query on Infiltration along the LoC. |
| |
Infiltration has been going on since the terrorism took its evil shape, in the state of J&K in early 90's. However, infiltration came down drastically. After the LoC fence came up two years back, The LoC infiltration fell almost 50% as compared to early years. However infiltration still continues. The Army has absolutely foiled every bid so far. |
| |
Since the LoC fence is almost 400 kms in The Kashmir Valley and runs through one of the most inhospitable terrain; it is nearly impossible to completely stop the infiltration. However along the LoC fence, alert jawaans and other modern equipment used by The Army on LoC, makes it very difficult for a terrorist to infiltrate and those who manage to cross over, get killed either on the LoC or the in the hinterlands |
