| From ‘In The Air’ to ‘On The Air’ |
|
After taking premature release from the Air Force in 1992, he took up Radio as a profession and was one of the pioneering FM Radio jocks in the country. Having traveled the world, he consolidated his radio skills. Apart from FM radio in India, Yuri has also anchored radio shows in New York City and made guest appearances as the voice of Indian radio in San Diego, California. He has hosted the immensely popular evening Drive Time on Radio 1 in Delhi, Look Who’s Talking on 6 O’Clock FM, YU-pho-RI-a and Live Wire on All India radio. Simultaneously, he was anchoring quiz shows as well as a running AAUI show (Road Watch) on TV. |

In addition to live shows, Yuri has lent his voice to thousands of TV & radio Ads, Documentaries & Corporate Films, Audio Cassettes and CD ROMS, He has also been a National Commentator for Republic Day, Independence Day and other occasions of national importance like the Republic Day Parades, Independence Day Celebrations, and US President Bill Clinton’s address to the joint houses of Parliament. He has also been the Channel voice for CNBC and Discovery Channel. He is currently the voice for radio stations- Pulse 95.3 and Awaaz 104.4 in Dubai. |

In 1996, he started his career as a trainer, teaching young people the art of public speaking as well as training them in the art of Radio. He has held workshops and lectures in various educational establishments like IILM, Amity International, and Jesus and Mary College, Delhi. He is visiting faculty at the Meyher Bhasin Academy in Delhi. |

Yuri has developed specialized capsules on Voice Training and Public Speaking, as well as a number of other life skills like Assertiveness, Self Esteem and Confidence Building, Leadership, Networking, and Conversation & Telephone Skills. He believes that learning and enhancing these Life Skills can transform any individual’s life. It is essentially the difference between a winner and a loser. |

Yuri has also been training Corporates in the art of making sales presentations and building a winning attitude. He has also traveled into remote corners of the country and held workshops with smaller progressive companies that have realized the importance of enhancing personal communication skills amongst their staff. |

The training imparted is not just for Corporate Executives and young students, Yuri has helped aspirants for Miss India and Mr India titles train for their pageants, especially in the art of tackling interviews in the one-on-one sessions and the Question Answer rounds. In the last Miss India pageant, he was on the official panel and held workshops in Mumbai to train the 25 finalists. He also personally trained 2 of the them, Amruta Patki and Neha Misra. Amruta went on to win the Miss India Earth crown in the pageant. He writes a regular column in Models and Trends that deals with preparation for a beauty pageant. |
